SPORTS facilities in Lancashire schools are to receive a boost thanks to £600,000 Lotto cash.
The Lancashire Education Authority has received the cash to develop PE and sport in local schools and communities.
The authority has been asked by the National Lottery to consult schools and sporting organisations and draw up a plan on how the cash will be spent.
The cash has come from the Lottery Board's New Opportunities Fund as part of a £3million boost for school sport in the North West.
New Opportunities Fund chief executive Stephen Dunmore said: "The grant will ensure that more sport and PE opportunities can be delivered to school pupils and their neighbours, with benefits for communities and their children.
Twelve education authorities in the North West are to split the cash and Lancashire's share is £599,350.
