ON arriving at Preston bus station on Friday afternoon and having got off a coach we wanted to take a taxi home.
But we were told that we couldn't go across the apron where the buses come in, to get to the taxi rank.
He told us to go down the ramp and up the other ramp to get to the other side.
That may not sound too bad, but as I am 75 and my husband 77 and not very well, it seemed like a mammoth task, especially when carrying a suitcase and other big bags. And it was. I asked the driver why there wasn't a taxi rank on the side where the coaches come in.
He explained they were not allowed.
Surely it would be no hardship on their part to allow a taxi rank there. There seems to be a large enough area for one.
It would enable people like us and everyone else to save all the time and effort going all that way across.
