HOPPERS tasted success for the first time since November wih a workman-like performance at Scunthorpe.

Man-of-the-match Sengili Tuihalamaka led the way wih a 24 point haul from a try two conversions and five penalties but this was a team effort with every player making a positive contribution.

The pack had a good day dominating the set pieces with new signing Richard Morton having a fine debut in the back row where he was joined in the second half by Andrew Dickinson, another newcomer, who also made an impression.

Hoppers led 13-3 at half time with penalties on either side of a converted pushover try against the head claimed by Charlie DuPre.

Monaghan, McKenna and Viney, prompted by fly-half Pal Bailey, caused problems and another penalty preceded a fine try by Tuihalamaka evading Severla's would-be tackles to cross under the posts.

The Tongan converted and added two further penalties as Scunthorpe lost control under pressure.

The one plack spot for Hoppers came in stoppage time. Anton Cramont was sinbinned and the home side took advantage to score two late consolation tries and a conversion.
