MYERSCOUGH College under 10's Football Team are jubilant after being crowned 5-a-side tournament champions of Mid Lancashire Colts League.
The day-long tournament included 20 teams and took place at Penwortham Girls School.
After losing their first game against Tarleton Red, Myerscough picked up their game with wins against Charnock Richard and Ribbleton Rovers Red. This meant Myerscough only needed a draw in their next match to go through to the quarter final, which they achieved against Deepdale Juniors.
Myerscough's quarter final match against Walton-le-Dale went to a nail biting penalty shoot out, resulting in a 12 -14 penalty win for Myerscough, with goalkeeper Simon Woodhouse making the crucial save.
The team's semi-final match against Tarlton Blue was an edge-of-the-seat affair, with a late goal from Myerscough's Andrew Hardman taking the team through, preventing an all Tarlton final.
In the final Myerscough played Tarlton Red. Tarlton took the lead, but, hungry for revenge after losing to the team in the opening round, Myerscough applied the pressure, with Chris O'Neill scoring the equaliser. The match went into extra time, and with two minutes to spare Myerscough's Matthew Seed scored with a blistering right foot drive, to make the team tournament champions.
