MASKED robbers dragged a woman across the ground after she had collected the takings from the fruit machines at a Whitefield pub.

The 59-year-old victim was ambushed in broad daylight in the car park of the Red King on Bury New Road by two men wearing balaclavas.

They grabbed her briefcase and bag, but she refused to let go and was pulled along the ground until she eventually lost grip.

The thugs then fled from the car park with the property, which contained a small amount of cash.

No weapons were seen or used during the attack which occurred shortly before 3.45pm on Friday (Oct 11).

DC Tony Hough, of Whitefield CID, has appealed for information about the raid which left the woman, who lives in Horwich, deeply distressed.

He said: "Although the woman was fortunate not to have been injured during the incident, she has been left extremely shocked and shaken.

"The attack happened in broad daylight and someone in the surrounding area must have seen these two men running from the pub, either down an adjacent street or possibly getting into a nearby car."
