STANLEY got off to a great start by putting unbeaten league leaders Leigh Miners under early pressure, taking the lead with a try by Simon Runciman who beat three men with some neat footwork.
Straight from the kick-off Stanley stormed down the field again for Runciman to grab his second unconverted try. It was all one way and it was no surprise from a set scrum when Mick McGinty went over for a try converted by Andy Johnson to give Stanley a healthy 14-0 lead.
But as in previous games Stanley started to give needless penalties away helping the Leigh side to gain some much needed ground resulting in them scoring a converted try on the half-time whistle.
Poor defending again by Stanley led to Leigh scoring another converted try and it was only some last ditch defence that stopped the away side from taking the lead but more indiscipline by Stanley gave Leigh an easy penalty under the posts to level the scores.
Leigh then went ahead with a drop-goal in the final minutes but Graeme McNish replied with his own to give Stanley a share of the two league points.
