A NEW service to make the NHS more user-friendly was launched on the Fylde on Wednesday (October 16).
PALS, or the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, will give support advice to patients, relatives and carers and aims to make a patient's journey through the NHS as smooth as possible.
A manager and four PALS officers will cover all NHS Trusts throughout the Fylde.
PALS won't replace the existing NHS complaints procedure but people will be able to speak to PALS for a quick resolution of their problem.
PALS manager Bernie Speakman said : "The government undertook a large public consultation exercise and the view was that the current complaints system took too long and was not always the best way to get answers to their concerns.
"Many felt they had to formally complain when they did not want to do this. They wanted to get help, advice or information on the spot.
"The service will enable us to provide a listening ear and give information, advice and support."
