A 65-YEAR-OLD man has been found dead in a reservoir after a rescue operation was launched when he failed to turn up for a hospital appointment.
The man who lived in Helmshore was spotted floating in the Calf Hey Reservoir, Grane Road, Haslingden by a jogger.
His son and a friend were already looking for him in the area after he failed to turn up for his appointment at Queen's Park Hospital, Blackburn.
Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue were also called and helped to pull the body out of the water.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death but are not treating it as suspicious.
Sergeant Colin Hudson said: "We are satisfied that there aren't any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death but we still have a number of witnesses to interview.
It is a very sad time for the family."
The man has not yet been named because he has still to be formally identified. The coroner has been informed.
