LEE SCULPHER will be travelling to tomorrow's Clitheroe game on public transport - after a small mishap with his car.

The Clitheroe player-manager was playing golf at Blackburn on Sunday when his car, which he says had been parked quite happily in the car park for the previous six hours - rolled 100 yards into a tree causing £1,000 damage.

He said: "It took a tree out on the edge of the course. The handbrake was on and the car was locked. It's a mystery how it happened."

Clitheroe get the chance to close the gap on one of the division's front-runners in the NWCL Division One clash at home to Skelmersdale tomorrow.

Striker Neil Spencer has made his comeback from a hernia injury after a three-week absence but had to make do with a midfield berth in the 4-2 win over Squires Gate on Tuesday.

He scored despite his deeper role - and hasn't been on a losing side for the Blues this season.

Blues manager Lee Scuplher hopes he can keep it up tomorrow against the league's in-form side - they have won six and drawn one of the last seven games.

"Neil Spencer was back with a bang, despite playing in midfield, but needs must.

"He did a great job."

Lee Cryer is currently playing up front alongside Gary Jackson, who has come through the Blues' youth team. Jackson is the man Spencer is looking to replace.

But he may have to wait.

"Neil is the captain of the side and he is happy to play where he is needed."

Sculpher has a glut of talent up front with the former Accrington Stanley striker Lee Buggie on the sidelines.

"I feel for Lee because he was in the side before but I just felt we needed a bit of something extra up front, a bit of a spark.

"Gary is definitely one for the future."

Skelmersdale will provide a test for the Blues, who can close the two-point gap on the second-placed side if they win.

"They got a new manager in the summer and he has turned it round there because they were lower-mid table last season.

"But we are confident after Tuesday's win."
