PNE dominated the early part of this match and led after three minutes when Louise Cafferkey excellently met a cross and headed home.
Sarah Parker then came close but her effort went wide. PNE kept up the pressure with some good work in midfield. Sarah Clements had a speculative shot on 12 minutes from 30 yards, but it didn't have the power to beat the Chorley keeper.
PNE dominated the first 20 minutes and were unlucky not to add to the scoreline.
Shortly after Chorley's first attack Louise Cafferkey got her second.
PNE were now on fire with Jenny Cottam and Mel Walker working hard at the back turning defence into attack. They continued to press for a third, but couldn't make the telling pass.
Chorley started on the attack in the second half, but PNE's defence was equal to everything they could throw at them.
Chorley has a chance of 52 minutes, but Karen Browne saved well low to her right and Alison Taberner cleared. Chorley looked a lot stronger in the second half and PNE had their work cut out to keep them at bay.
Chorley continued to pile on the pressure and needed to step up a gear. Just then Fiona Dransfield made a dash down the left wing and lashed the ball into the top corner from an acute angle.
PNE relaxed and Chorley nearly pulled one back on 75 minutes as Karen Browne came out to smother a shot, the ball came loose, but the Chorley striker could only hit the post and the ball went out for a goalkick.
PNE rallied after this and worked hard in midfield to create chances, but Chorley's defence was resolute and kept PNE at bay.
Cafferkey nearly got her hat-trick on 90 minutes, when the Chorley keeper fumbled but she managed managed to gather the ball at the second opportunity.
PNE will meet either Oldham Ladies or Man Utd in the next round.
On Sunday PNE are at home to Darwen.
