IT is October 2 as I write this and already here we go again! When will someone take action over the misuse of fireworks?
I am not against kids having fun. When I was a child we looked forward to Bonfire Night. It was an exciting, communal occasion, bringing together friends, relatives and neighbours. One family would provide black peas, another baked spuds, and so on . . . The kids went to bed happy and very tired, having been allowed to stay up so late.
But it was only once a year. As far as I am concerned, fireworks are a living hell. My cat spends most of the time in a cupboard and my dog refuses to eat, it is so nervous. I am not against people having fun provided they accept responsibility for their actions, parents and children alike.
