REGARDING Margo Grimshaw's article about Jim Bowen (LET, October 8) I am completely astounded that anyone in this day and age can support and condone the use of a term such as 'nig-nog', when speaking to a black person, and not understand that it is offensive and unacceptable.
For a broadcaster to use this term on air, as Jim Bowen did, is beyond belief, and thank heavens he resigned.
The fact that your feature writer, Margo, unashamedly admits to using this term herself, with no hint of shame, and oblivious to any offence it may cause, I also find deeply disturbing.
