ORGANISERS of a fun day to mark the tenth anniversary of a Rishton community centre are looking for a special guest of honour to attend the event.

They are trying to track down Anthony Higham who, as an 11-year-old, won a competition to come up with a name for what is now known as the Primetime Centre.

The committee are also keen to find any of the people who attended the formal opening on October 31, 1992, and also Sharon Wood, then a student at Manchester Polytechnic, who designed the artwork for the centre.

Since its opening the Primetime Centre has been used by all sections of the local community.

A youth club, pre-school nursery group, a 'bumps and babies' group, cycling club, camera club, senior citizens, judo and marshal arts, keep fit, Dial Disability Information Line and drop-in centre, Reach social group for those with learning difficulties, computer courses, painting and art.

Soroptimists and communication skills course are just some of the activities based at the Stourton Street centre, which will be celebrating on Sunday, November 24. A feature of the day will be the formal opening of the new Jubilee Garden by Mrs Val Eddleston, who was the first chairperson.

Anyone who can help with the location of Anthony Higham or Sharon Wood or who would like details should contact Jean Goodall or Julie Garrity on 01254 882129 (daytime).
