I SUPPORT the global free-enterprise economy -- which is really 19th-century Free Trade by another name.

First, it is giving people from around the world a greater choice of food and consumer goods than ever before.

It is giving employment to people in Third World countries who would otherwise be reduced to begging.

It is giving more people the opportunity to travel the world to use their skills to seek a higher standard of living.

And, not least, it is bringing together more people of different races and culture.

Critics of the global economy offer no alternative. The days of communist-type states, which totally controlled industry and commerce, have gone.
