A PROMISE of tropical bliss was all it took to entice Edenfield lad Nigel Clucas along to "Temptation Island".

The 22-year-old, of Croftacres, was chosen to take part in the latest series of the reality TV show, filmed on the idyllic Thai island of Ko Samui.

And charged with the mission of luring young attached females away from their partners, the Bury College student had the trip of a lifetime.

Nigel was amazed to be picked for the show after giving a camera audition to TV researchers while working at a nightclub in Manchester.

He said: "There was just me and a couple of mates and we only really did it as a bit of a joke.

"Eventually I got a 'phone call asking if I wanted to take part and go to Thailand, so I accepted. It was a real surprise.

"All I was thinking about was the sunshine and meeting some cracking people, which I did."

The four couples who took part in the show were separated and each put on a desert island with members of the opposite sex, like Nigel, to lead them astray.

"Each couple thinks they have something to prove about their relationship, either to each other or other people," said Nigel.

As a crew co-ordinator for the radio stations Galaxy FM and GMR, Nigel is no stranger to broadcasting.

He cannot reveal the result of his flirting efforts until the show reaches its conclusion.

But Nigel did enjoy the experience, despite a nervous start.

He said: "The majority of guys there were like models whereas I'm just normal Nigel, so it was a bit intimidating at first.

"As time went on I had great fun with some fantastic people in a beautiful place, and was so glad that I did it."
