CHILDREN from schools across Pendle took part in the launch of an awards scheme in Nelson aimed at making their visions a reality.
The Our Place -- Our Pendle awards are part of the council's Local Agenda 21 plan to meet the Government's pledge to protect the planet made at the Earth Summit in Rio.
Youngsters from schools in Colne, West Craven, Nelson and Roughlee took an active part in the event by making an organic meal using local ingredients to serve to delegates.
They were also invited to come up with ideas to improve their environment in Pendle.
Jane Wright, who has spearheaded the Our Place Our Pendle scheme, said: "Projects should improve the quality of life in Pendle and could be anything from involving children in healthy eating campaigns, protecting local wildlife or heritage, helping elderly or disabled people or making cultural links across the globe to promote co-operation and understanding."
