PIERRE JOUBERT will be playing Transco Lancashire League cricket again next season.

The South African professional has agreed to return to Burnley for a second year.

The Turf Moor side have agreed terms with the Northern Transvaal player and are just awaiting the return of a signed contract.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a successful season at the crease last year - scoring 841 runs at an average of 76.45.

Only his bowling let him down. He took just 18 wickets. Burnley finished the season in ninth place.

Burnley team manager Michael Anderson, whose son James is with the ECB Academy in Adelaide, Australia, said: "He is looking forward to coming back.

"He didn't get as many wickets as we expected last year but he is another year older now and he will benefit from the experience of last year.

"He works hard with the young players which is important because we have a young side."

He added: "James is doing well in Australia. I spoke to him on Sunday and he said they were doing mostly fitness work ahead of the first matches."
