A MOTHER of two who used a stolen credit card to get petrol, oil and a phone card was today starting a six-week jail term.
Burnley Magistrates heard how drug addict Nadine Joanne Harrison, 29, would not have committed the offences without her accomplice, about whom she wouldn't talk. So her solicitor said he would.
Harrison had also breached a community rehabilitation order imposed for theft of a £69.99 jacket and the court had been told how the probation service had 'severe reservations' about her motivation for tackling her drug problem.
Harrison, of Scotts Terrace, Burnley, admitted two counts of obtaining property by deception on July 5 and failing to comply with a community rehabilitation order.
Mark Williams, defending, described Harrison's partner, who was now in jail, as a "negative influence" on her.
He said now he was off the scene, the defendant could hopefully come to terms with her drug situation and put her life in some sort of order.
Mr Williams said Harrison had previously been given a curfew order and she had kept to it for the four months duration.
In many ways it was an ideal sentence, as it meant she could do her shopping and do the school run during the day. At night time she would be at home in any event, looking after her six-year-old.
The solicitor added he accepted the defendant was in a serious position, but the offences were not the most serious and did not cross the custody threshold.
