THE ongoing process of planning for Burnley's future will continue this week as youngsters gather for a trial match.

The half term break offers youth team coach Terry Pashley a good chance to gather youngsters from all over the country.

He explained: "In this business you always have to be looking ahead to the next intake of lads and that is what we will be doing this week. We have to plan for the future."

Three of the youngsters from the club's School of Excellence are already away this week as they have been invited to training at Lilleshall.

Stephen Hall, Jay Rodriguez and Chris Smalley have been selected from the Under-14 group with a view to representing England at Under-15 level next season.

The current crop of young players suffered a crushing 6-1 defeat by Tranmere Rovers at the weekend.

Pashley will certainly be hoping for a major improvement when Stockport County visit Gawthorpe on Saturday morning.
