PENDLE'S first competitive home match got off to the worst possible start when York took an early six-point lead.
However, the home side soon got back on level terms through Sarah Dixon.
Midway through the first half York posted another four pointer but Panthers hit back through Jo Hathaway with a superb delayed pass which sent Dixon in for her second.
York again took a six point lead but the East Lancs women hit back with a well-worked try from Sophie Adams.
The second half saw the home side shut up shop with a big defensive display from forwards Sharon Pike, Jo Bailey and Kelly Fergeson and well backed up by Danni Simpson.
Stand off Sarah Ashworth distributed the ball well. Dixon crossed for her third and winger Louise Durrans went over in the corner. Dixon put the game beyond doubt as she squeezed over in the left hand corner for her fourth.
The Panthers Women travel to Salford next Sunday when they take on Folly Lane.
PENDLE PANTHERS...28 YORK...16
