BURNLEY ran in a hatful of tries but it still did not stop them from receiving a blasting from coach Tony Finnan for acting like prima donnas.

He said: "We played the worst game of the season with players believing they could ignore calls at will and acting like prima donnas. We looked like a team that had not trained together and better opposition would have demolished us!"

Burnley settled down in the second half after a team talk and played some good rugby in the first 20 minutes. Neil Rogers played well with some good tackling and Jason Bell put in another in-your-face performance.

Billy Ingham was impressive with Nick Cassidy showing his leadership capabilities in the scrum.

And the centre partnership of Troy Cooper and Nick Ralph worked well with some sparkling runs by both players.

The third team were beaten 11-10 by Warton.

Captain Kenny O'Shea had no hesitation or shame in naming himself as man-of-the-match after scoring a brace of tries in the narrowest of defeats.

O'Shea scored twice and could have had a hat-trick in a bruising battle that saw players from both sides sin-binned before the break.

Warton opened up a 6-0 lead with two penalties before O'Shea scored the first of his brace of tries following a strong run from Mark Nicholls.

After the break, Burnley upped the tempo with Eamon Walsh, Gary Leyshon, Harvey Spence and the improving Tim Coyne were in the thick of the action.

But a breakaway try from Warton gave the visitors an 11 - 5 lead.

A high tackle on hooker Danny Marshall gave the home side a penalty 15 metres from the line from which he scored his second try -- following good work again from Nicholls. Alistair Douglas put the conversion inches wide which was the difference between victory and defeat.

Burnley face a tough test this weekend with derby clash with Blackburn.
