TOTTINGTON High School proved itself to be a cut above the rest when it raised £884 for Christie Hospital.
Earlier this year teacher Martin Barnes had his head shaved for charity before he left to teach in the Peak District.
The staggering amount of money raised was through sponsorship by staff and pupils.
Joyce Kinsey, school spokesman, said: "It was a great amount raised and was a brilliant way for Martin to finish his teaching at the school."
