TWO teasing horse riders have bared all for a fundraising calendar.

Maureen and Gregory Sikora, from Cottam, stepped into the limelight to become instant pin-ups for the Heavy Horse Riding Club Of Great Britain.

The pair, founder members of the club, stepped into the breach in a bid to attract new members.

The colourful result is a saucy calendar featuring Gregory and Maureen as Mr and Mrs June, atop their prized shire horses!

Maureen, 48, a civil servant, said: "I think I got very drunk for it.

"I've got a bikini on and I wore some of the Western clothes for it.

"I revealed a bit but not a lot. There are different photographs of varying degrees of dress and undress!" Maureen and Gregory are life-long horse-riders and are fanatical about 'heavy horses' in particular. The pair own two shire horses, Rupert and Lady, and the animals can weigh up to three quarters of a ton and stand 18 hands tall.

"We started this club and got quite a few members. We're even trying to get the heavy horses involved in shows. Every other breed is in shows, but there is nothing for heavy horses," explained Maureen.

"Our chairman got this bright idea from the WI. They did a calendar, and she said, right gang, it's our turn!"

The pair even met thanks to a horse! Gregory, 52, is American, and is only in England for a few years working for an aeroplane firm in Warton. Maureen explained: "I was riding down Blackpool beach and he jumped in front of the horse!"

After her husband's contract is finished in Warton, Maureen will move to America with him, hopefully starting up a ranch of their own breeding horses.

She said: "My husband has actually been a working cowboy.

"When we go to America we are going to take the horses with us. We're hoping to find somewhere we can actually breed shires -- a little ranch in Montana or Wyoming."
