THE first 40 minutes of Hoppers first ever meeting with Broadstreet was eminently forgettable.
The visitors big rumbling pack ensured little decent rugby was played but Hoppers did not help matters.
Too many unforced errors and suspect handling prevented the occasional scoring chance coming to fruition.
Ineffective tackling allowed Broadstreet to take the initiative and a forward orientated try by Chris Harrison converted by Andrew Tee gave the visitors an early lead. Sengii Tuihalamaka pulled three points back with a penalty but Tee stretched the lead to 13-3 at the break with two similar efforts.
Harsh words in the interval worked wonders for Hoppers.
In the space of ten minutes they turned the game on its head with three excellent tries.
Gary Monaghan, the leagues leading try scorer got the first following a strong run by Owen McKenna, Anton Cramont crossed for the second following a lineout (the first try scored by a forward this season), and Charlie DuPre the third with a blind side dash. Tuihalamaka converted all three.
Hoppers then went into their shell for a while but a Tuihalamaka penalty and conversion of a try by Paul Bailey put Hoppers in command at 34-13.
A penalty try awarded deep into overtime converted by Tee gave the score a lopsided look but Hoppers gleefully accepted their second win on the trot.
On Saturday they travel to Bedford Athletic.
