GERI Halliwell, Rick Astley and Cher are just some of the singers being impersonated at a 'Stars in Your Eyes' charity evening in Preston.

Organisers hope to raise the £1,350 needed to provide a toddler suffering from cerebal palsy sufferer with a 'second skin'.

Two-year-old Robert Feeney, who also has epilepsy, needs the Lycra suit to help him strengthen his muscles to enable him move around.

And kind-hearted Preston woman Odette Oliver has stepped in to organise the star-studded evening at London Road Labour Club to help raise the cash.

Odette of East View, Victoria Road, Preston, said: "We organise an event like this for a different cause each year. Last year we raised enough to send a seven-year-old boy to America to swim with dolphins.

"This time we've been lucky enough to find six volunteers who are confident enough to get up on stage and perform as their heroes." Robert's father Alan, of Blackpool, says his son is in desperate need of help. "He needs this suit in order to sit up and do things that children half his age can easily like putting his toys away.

"Unfortunately, as with all special needs children, this comes with a much higher cost."

Tickets for the event at 7.30pm on November 28 are available from the London Road Labour Club or by calling Odette on 556836. They are £5 for adults and £3 for kids and include a buffet supper.
