PUNK Icon Joe Strummer, is to perform at the Arena, Blackpool Winter Gardens, on Wednesday November 13 as part of his 'Bringing It All Back Home' ten-date UK tour.
The former frontman with The Clash will appear with his band, The Mescaleros, playing a set spanning his entire career, including songs from recent Mescaleros albums Global-A-Go-Go, some new material, the odd cover version and of course a good selection of Clash Classics.
The Clash were pioneers of the late seventies punk explosion. However, they soon outgrew punk, opening their minds and raising their game to become arguably the best rockabilly - reggae - R 'n' B band of all time. The Clash split in 1986 and unlike most of their counterparts have to this day managed to resist the millions offered by American promoters to re-unite.
Instead Strummer has continued to experiment with the Mescaleros, producing excellent music fusing folk, African and Asian beats with many other aspects of world music.
Julian Murray of promoters Infinite Events Ltd said: "We are not only delighted but honoured to have someone of Joe's cailbre coming to Blackpool.
"He is truly a part of rock history and although he recently celebrated his 50th birthday, his performances still exude the energy and passion that would put a lot of todays younger acts to shame".
Tickets, priced at £15.00, are available from The Winter Gardens box office on 01253-292029, Millenium Concert Travel 01253-299266 or online at www.tickets-online.co.uk
