SPORTS stars are going for gold after receiving a £2,885 lotto jackpot.
The windfall from the National Lottery's Awards for All programme will allow Atherton's Parklee Community School to fund specialist football coaching, targeted especially at girls, and buy a range of new equipment guaranteed to put pupils on for a fit and healthy lifestyle.
Headteacher, Mrs Sally Roy, said: "We are thrilled to win this award. It will allow us to build on the excellent physical education we already provide for our pupils.
"We have worked very hard to develop this project and to complete the application. Now we have got the money it is time for the real work to start."
Mrs Roy (centre) is pictured unveiling the Awards for All certificate with deputy head Mrs Lynn Evans, PE co-ordinator Darran Nash and year six pupils looking on.
