A MAN was arrested five months after being spotted on CCTV cameras stealing bottles of booze at a Bury supermarket, magistrates were told.
Andrew Farrell, aged 25, of Arley Avenue, Bury, was eventually arrested at his home after a Norweb employee noticed an electricity meter which had been tampered with.
The court was told that Farrell had sold the booze to buy drugs. He is currently receiving treatment for his addiction.
Farrell, who had pleaded guilty to theft and dishonestly obtaining electricity, was given 18 months' Community Rehabilitation with a condition that he attend an alcohol and substance rehabilitation programme.
