JUST five league games into the season, Ramsbottom A have opened up a twelve point gap at the top of the Division One table over the Ramsbottom B team, after their 10-0 victory over their own D team.

The Ramsbottom B team played their C team and beat them by 8-2. Cricketers also had an 8-2 win away at St Philips and are currently in third position.

Two teams in the first Division are still awaiting their first victory -- newly promoted Ramsbottom D and Location, although the latter did manage a draw this week at home to Carlton Club A thanks to Graham Jeffries treble. Ron Durose and Glenn Payne both scored three wins each in Little Lever's 8-2 victory over Mosses A and Simon Abraham scored three for Prestwich A as they defeated YMCA Sports A 7-3.

DIVISION TWO

Mosses B sit at the top of Division Two, even though they have lost two matches, after this week's 10-0 victory over Prestwich D. They are just one point ahead of Ramsbottom E who are one point in front of Seedfield A and Seedfield A have played one match less then the top two teams.

Derek Buckley scored three wins for Ramsbottom E this week in their 7-3 victory over Maccabi A whilst David Poytress and Peter Mears both scored three as Seedfield A won 9-1 at Adelphi. Prestwich B and Prestwich C both lost 6-4, the former at home to St Philips B and the latter away at Carlton Club B. Dave Holden scored three wins for St Philips and Mark Reading for Carlton.

DIVISION THREE

Two of the top teams in Division Three, Claybank and Unsworth, met this week with Claybank coming out on top 6-4 thanks to three wins from Graham Daniels.

This took Claybank to the top of the league and left Unsworth in third position, just one point behind BGSOB who lost 6-4 at at home to Elton Vale A, for whom David Hall had three wins.

Carol Mitchell also had three wins for ELPM A in their 7-3 win over Carlton D and this leaves ELPM nicely placed in the league having played two games fewer then some of their rivals.

Dave Stubbington scored three wins for Red Hall but unfortunately for him his team-mates had no success against Prestwich E who won the match 7-3.

DIVISION FOUR

ELPM B sit at the top of Division Four with 31 points after their 7-3 victory at Maccabi D this week, but the two teams behind them, both on 27 points have played fewer matches, Seedfield B, two fewer and BGSOB B just one.

BGSOB B lost 6-4 this week at Elton Vale B, another team nicely played in the league who have only played three matches.

The two Holmar teams in this Division had mixed fortune this week, the A team beat Seedfield C 6-4 but the B team lost at Maccabi C 7-3.

DIVISION FIVE

The two teams in Division Five, Prestwich F and Seedfield D are both undefeated with Prestwich having a four point advantage at the top, although they have played one match more than Seedfield.

This match this week resulted in an 8-2 victory for the top team over Seedfield E. Other 8-2 victories came for Holmar C over Seedfield F and BGSOB D away at ELPM C.

In the other match in this Division Alan Fletcher scored three wins for Elton Vale C as they beat Maccabi E 6-4.
