SELF-confessed adrenaline addict Mark Calland flew into the Guinness Book of Records during the World Speed Sky Diving Championships in France.
Mark, of Alfred Road, Lowton, near Leigh, has earned himself the prestigious title of fastest speed sky diver in Britain, achieving 278mph -- the fastest speed recorded in a competition, while also being the first Briton to go over 300mph (312mph) in free fall. His interest in the extreme sport was triggered when he took part in a charity parachute jump at The Bulls Head in Astley.
He says: "The adrenaline rush is huge -- something you will never ever forget. I'm addicted to it, but it certainly isn't for everyone."
The 39-year-old trains hard, managing four or five jumps each weekend, for his next goal -- to become number one in the world.
He is seeking sponsorship for next year's championships. Anyone interested in helping should email markc@airtecfiltration.com
