FASTEN your seat belts, set your ray guns to stun and get ready to rock-'n'-roll your way through a cosmic adventure at Blackpool's Opera House!

Return of Return to the Forbidden Planet is heading for Blackpool on Monday for a one-week run, and it promises to be even bigger and better than before.

Based on The Tempest by William Shakespeare, the B-movie style show is packed with rock 'n' roll classics such as Good Vibrations, Great Balls of Fire, Robot Man, She's Not There, Mr Spaceman, Gloria and The Young Ones.

The 12-strong cast of singers and musicians tells the story of Captain Tempest and his crew when their spaceship crash lands on an unknown planet.

Author and director Bob Carlton said: "It is a brand new production of the Planet you know and love, with a brand new design.

"Sets and costumes will all look very different and the projection is bigger and better than ever before. The story and characters are the same, but there are a few surprises in store and the odd new song."

The original Return to the Forbidden Planet beat Miss Saigon to Best Musical Award in 1990, much to Bob's surprise.

"A lot of people thought Planet was a little known outsider. It became front page news all over the world and thrust the show into the limelight making it a world-wide phenomenon," he said.

Despite its cult status, Bob said his show has wide appeal. "It's suitable for people who like musicals, people who love classic 50s and 60s rock-'n'-roll, people who love live music, families, students, schools, people who enjoy Shakespeare and people out for a good time and a laugh. There's no bad language, nudity or strobe lighting, so it really is for everyone."

The show runs October 28 to November 2. Tickets costing £10-£19.50 are available from the Opera House box office on 292029.
