BURY'S Sandcastle Trust picked an appropriate location to begin a sponsored walk to raise funds for the organisation.
For the Sandcastle in Blackpool was the starting point for the event which raised around £1,400.
The sponsored walk for the Sandcastle Trust, which provides holidays for local families, was the idea of Bury Lions member and ex-president Mike Davis.
He came up with the idea after attending the Trust's annual general meeting and hearing that more money was required.
On Saturday (Oct 19), six Bury Lion members and 18 walkers representing the Sandcastle Trust travelled from Bury to the coast for the event.
The walkers negotiated a six-mile route from the Sandcastle to the Norbreck Hotel.
The Sandcastle Trust was founded in 1998 to organise and provide holidays for families experiencing low income, learning difficulties or health problems.
Each year, the Trust has provided holidays in Prestatyn for around 120 people, or 25 families.
The Trust is currently hoping for a development grant from the National Lottery.
