SUMMERSEAT Liberal Club has had its licence revoked.
The Robin Road-based club's right to serve alcohol was taken away by Bury Magistrate.
Police said they had been investigating activities at Summerseat Liberal Club since July following complaints from the village.
They found that the club had been breaking licensing laws by serving outside the given hours and also to non-members.
PC Chris Haslam, Bury police's licensing officer, said: "A registered club is given an authority from the court to supply alcoholic drinks to members only. They must also do this within the general permitted licensing hours.
"In this case many of the laws and rules associated with registered clubs had been broken and the club had to be closed."
PC Haslam added: "People who sell and supply alcohol must take their responsibilities seriously whether it is a pub, club or off-licence. If not, the police will step in."
He added that Summerseat Liberal Club can re-apply for its licence but members will have to convince the police and court that will keep to the rules.
There was no one available at Summerseat Liberal Club to comment.
