BLACKPOOL Scorpions went into the game with only 16 fit players, but they got off to a great start by applying early offensive and defensive pressure to the visitors.
Tony Green converted a penalty and then Luke Valente scored a try after good strong running by Steve Morris. Scorpions led 6-0.
The Scorpions' defence then went to sleep. Parkside scored two quick tries to take the lead 10-6.
Scorpions regrouped and reverted to smart rugby. Shaun Towell darted in at the corner and Chris Pearson, with his kicking boots on, duly converted. Scorpions led 12-10.
Andy Johnston, in his customary dummy half role, ran in for a solo effort from 30 yards for another converted try. At half time, Scorpions led 18-10.
Scorpions continued their good form at the start of the second half. Pearson scored an early penalty. Then, Scorpions Man of the Match, Andy Johnston sprinted over for his second.
A good cross field move put Pearson in at the corner and he converted his own score. Scorpions now had a healthy 32-10 lead.
Parkside applied some pressure and scored again after a quick tap penalty.
The final score of the game was to the home team. A barnstorming run by Tim Burns continued with him carrying 3 defenders over the line for a fine individual try.
Chris Pearson converted to take his personal points tally to 16 and Scorpions were 38-14 winners at the final whistle.
