GLEN Little is hoping to win his fitness battle and take on Portsmouth at Turf Moor at the weekend.

The Clarets winger limped off at half time against Ipswich Town with a calf injury and he admitted: "It has been a bit sore but I worked with physio Ian Liversedge yesterday and I will be having a bit more treatment again before the weekend.

"I got a knock after about 15 minutes and then I was struggling a bit. It stiffened up at half time and Sam Ellis spoke to me about it.

"He told me that with a lot of games coming up it would be daft to push it and so I came off. Now we will have to see for the Pompey match, the gaffer will have to make the decision.

"It is a shame to get a knock because we are all enjoying the 12-game unbeaten run and most players are now fit. We have got Paul Weller and Granty back and only Alan Moore and Gordon Armstrong are out."

While Little is aiming to be in midfield for Burnley, the visitors are set to give Steve Stone a debut following his loan move from Aston Villa, completed yesterday.

The ex-England man has not figured in Graham Taylor's plans and he will be looking to get his career going again on the South Coast.
