AS a life-long Bury FC supporter (aged 71), a shareholder, Lifeline contributor, Treasureline contributor, and Forever Bury member, I read yet again of the mismanagement of the club.
Time after time we make free gifts of our star players. As the club is desperate for funds, why on earth was Paddy Kenny not put on the transfer list weeks ago for a worthwhile fee, instead of this so-called loan to "Warnock and Robinson Incorporated", otherwise known as Sheffield United?
We all know that we have to sell to exist but this give-away price of £60,000 is ridiculous. What adds insult to injury is that this move was rumoured from the start of the loan, but we were not informed, and I argued that this could not possibly be right.
For management to suggest that our present goalkeeper is an adequate replacement is a joke. Anyone with a basic understanding of football can see that the reason for our hopeless goals-against record is that the defence has no faith in a 'keeper who doesn't command his area and rarely catches a ball from a corner kick.
If we are not going to see gates dropping even further, and if we are going to have any chance of promotion, we must sign Gary Kelly, who I believe is on a free transfer from Oldham, possibly on a week-to-week basis.
