PLANS for a 40th anniversary reunion dinner for the players from the 1962 FA Cup Final between Burnley and Spurs have had to be scrapped.
One of the disappointed organisers, Tom Roe, admitted: "It is a really big blow because everything was set up for a great evening.
"But the problem was that the hotel needed guarantees about the number of guests who would be attending the dinner and we just did not have enough support.
"The disappointing thing is that it was a great chance for people to meet and speak to some of the great names from a golden era of the game.
"Burnley and Spurs were fantastic sides and it would have been lovely to get the players together again. Sadly it is not to be."
