NEXT week's planned series of strikes by firefighters have been dramatically suspended so that fresh pay talks can take place.
The executive of the Fire Brigades Union has decided that two 48-hour strikes planned for October 29-31 and November 2-4 will not now go ahead.
The union, which is seeking a 40% pay increase, will hold talks with local authority employers on Wednesday and Thursday.
