BURY'S midfield ace Lenny Johnrose says he is delighted to be back at Gigg Lane but admits he does not want to stay any longer than necessary.
Johnrose has enjoyed getting reacquainted with Shakers this week, after being released by First Division Burnley, and received a tremendous ovation on his second Bury debut at Rochdale in midweek.
But the 32-year-old, who left Bury nearly four years ago to join former manager Stan Ternent at Turf Moor, confessed that dropping two divisions to gain regular first team action is not ideal.
"I think I'm better than this level and I've still got a lot of football left in me," he said.
"I'm desperate to get back into First Division football as soon as possible but I'll just have to see how things turn out. I don't know how long I will be staying for. I'll have a word with the manager at the end of the month.
"But, in the meantime, I'm delighted to be back here. The fans were absolutely brilliant to me at Rochdale. I really appreciated their support.
"Bury is a great club to come back to. I loved it when I was here last time and all the lads who played with me, the likes of Nicky Daws and Chris Lucketti, say the same. The times we had here were second to none."
Johnrose claims little has changed since those halcien days when Bury also occupied a place in the Nationwide elite.
And he sees no reason why this current crop of Shakers can not also enjoy a successful era.
"Although the spirit at Burnley was good, it was never the same as what we had at Gigg," he said.
"The spirit here is better than any club I've been to and there is a lot of talent here in what is a young side. Maybe I can help with organisation on the field."
