ORGANISERS of an annual Remembrance service and parade have issued an urgent appeal for a bugler to take part in the event.
And they revealed how the Remembrance Day activities in Hapton could be forced to break with tradition if a musician cannot be found in time.
A bugler usually plays the Last Post at the ceremony in the village but this year the parish council has been unable to find anyone to perform this ritual.
They are appealing for anyone who can play a bugle or pipe and would be willing to perform at the ceremony on Sunday, November 10.
Pat Jones, a Hapton resident, said: "Someone's daughter used to play it for us but she has gone off to university now so she won't be able to do this year and we don't know of anyone else.
"We usually have a very formal event and we usually have a parade. We don't mind if it is a piper rather than a bugler as long as we find someone to keep the tradition going. We hope someone will be able to help us out."
Hapton-with-Park councillor John Harbour said: "I hope someone reading this can help the parish council and the village of Hapton because this day is very important to them as they are honouring loved ones.
"Hopefully someone will volunteer to play at the service because I would like to think the tradition could be continued again this year."
Mayor of Burnley, Councillor Gordon Birtwistle, said: "I think it would be a great shame if they can't find a bugler in time."
If anyone can help they should ring the chairman of the Hapton Parish Council, Joan Lakeland, on 01282 779690.
