A DRIVER had a lucky escape when his car crashed into a garden wall.
The 40-year-old man was driving a navy Renault along Bolton Road, Radcliffe, towards Little Lever, when it is thought he lost control on a bend and crashed.
He suffered facial injuries and paramedics gave first aid at the scene before taking him to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be serious.
The car burst into flames on impact and fire fighters from Farnworth and Bury put out the flames and helped free the man from the wreckage.
Station officer Tim Greenwood from Farnworth Fire Station said: "He was lucky really, the passenger's side took most of the impact. I think we would have had problems if anyone had been sitting on that side."
Police were called to the scene of the accident, a short distance before the junction with Stopes Road, and they are investigating.
