IT is reported (LET, September 28) that motorists are slowing down as they go past speed cameras.

Now, this simply won't do. How is the £20million in fines going to be raised, as projected by the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety?

They want 500 cameras at £40,000 each paid for by the taxpayer to prosecute the taxpayer.

Farcical, isn't it? -- when old folks homes re closing through lack of funds.

Still we don't want sympathy to get in the way of profit, do we?
