OVER the past few months we have had to endure many readers' letters and Lancashire Evening Telegraph comments about the County Council care homes closures.
During this time nobody has been interested or cared about the closure of many private care homes, two of which are closing every day throughout the country.
Over the last two years, 30 private care homes in Blackburn have closed down, mainly because of underfunding.
The private ones have been subsidising the County Council and Social Services homes to the tune of £100 per person per week.
Many believe that private care homes are more expensive and are only for those who pay their own fees.
This is far from the truth. Social Services/DSS-funded residents are in all private homes.
Often for the person paying fees themselves, it is cheaper.
So what about the private sector that has been decimated also?
