LEIGH MP Andy Burnham has urged the Government to keep up the fight for justice for former employees of Turner & Newall who are suffering from asbestos-related diseases.

He told a Commons debate on asbestos in the workplace that a way must be found to end the injustice of a situation where local families had seen claims for mesothelioma blocked by the voluntary administration of the new parent company.

Work Minister Nick Brown acknowledged the severity of the situation and pledged that urgent discussions would continue with the Treasury and the Department of Trade and Industry to try to find a solution.
