A PUZZLED postman today issued an appeal for the owner of a bouncy castle to step forward after he stumbled over it on his daily round.
Worsthorne and Cliviger postie and councillor Kevin Robinson said he found the children's attraction during an early morning delivery.
But after reporting his discovery to the police he remains in the dark as to who it belongs to and has now set about tracing the owner of the colourful inflatable.
Kevin said: "It appeared outside the Gordon Lennox pub in Burnley Road but nobody knows whose it is. We haven't had any events in the village and we can't think where it may have come from.
"We just want to know where it may have come from and to give it back to its owner.
"I have hired bouncy castles before and I know how expensive they can be so I am sure the owner would be pleased to get it back."
Kevin said the inflatable has two blowers attached to either side.
Ian Jagger, landlord of the Gordon Lennox, said: "I think somebody has just driven past and dumped it because it looks like it could be past its sell-by date."
A spokesman for Burnley police said they had no record of anyone reporting the loss.
