A DETECTIVE has reiterated a warning to elderly people after another 'distraction' burglary by a bogus caller.
Many pensioners have been conned into letting strangers into their homes in recent months -- the latest being in Old Bank Lane, Blackburn, on Tuesday.
Two men told a 60 year-old woman they were working on the house next door and needed to check something in her home. Once inside they were discovered by her husband stealing cash from a handbag and made off.
Det Sgt Ian Critchley, of Blackburn CID, said: "We are investigating a number of these across the town.
"We want to reiterate the warning to elderly people not to let people into their homes unless they have got formal ID.
"If they haven't don't let them in. If they have and you are still suspicious call the police and we will send an officer up as a priority."
The first bogus caller was said to be white, in his late 20s, with short dark hair, a local accent, of slim build and about 6ft 3in tall.
He was wearing a turquoise sweat shirt.
The other was described as white, late 20s, of slim build, with short brown hair and was shorter than the other man.
