A RURAL MP is backing the national launch today of a campaign aimed at tackling boredom among young people.
The Kids Clubs Network is launching a campaign at the House of Commons targeting the lack of opportunities for teenagers.
Campaigners claim teenagers are bored, vulnerable and getting into trouble, because there are not enough safe places to go, or constructive opportunities to engage them.
Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans is backing the Making Space campaign.
He said: "Six out of ten teenagers and eight out of ten parents believe there is not enough for young people to do.
"Towns like Clitheroe and Longridge have active and hard-working youth groups, but they need more support and resources.
"Facilities are so scarce in villages that youngsters have to rely on infrequent public transport to get them to local towns.
"We need a reliable, affordable and regular bus network joining villages to meeting places and facilities.
"Isolation is a serious problem for young people in my constituency."
