FOR more than 20 years in the water industry, I purchased the many and varied chemicals used in water purification and sewage treatment to remove bacteria, etc.
Chemicals to purify, not to medicate!!
The use of fluoride in our public water supply could possibly lead to a titanic catastrophe because of its toxicity.
Accidents could occur similar to the one some 20 years ago at Camelford in Devon. When a chemical which caused no problems in normal dosage, was put in the wrong storage tank increasing the dosage and led to serious health problems.
Let's leave this additional and unnecessary toxic chemical out of the water system because any mistake can and would affect sight and visual organs.
For years, health authorities have been "lobbying" the water companies to add this "medicine".
Now the health authorities are seeking government assistance. But my MP Greg Pope did not mention fluoridation in his or Labour's manifesto.
Let the water companies get on with the job they were set up to do --safeguard and sustain the purity of our water and to secure our future demands for this most essential commodity.
If the health authorities wish to improve dental health they should lobby for extra money for more NHS dentists! Leave the water companies alone and put the onus for primary dental care where it belongs -- on parental control.
