GENEROUS children from a Ramsbottom primary school have donated their new and old toys to children living in less fortunate countries.
Children from St Joseph's RC in Queen Street have been filling shoeboxes for street children for a host of countries including Yugoslavia and Kosovo.
They have filled more than 100 boxes this year, containing new and nearly new toys and treats for young boys and girls.
Headteacher Pauline Leatherbarrow said: "We have been collecting the boxes for five or six years now for Ramsbottom Rotary Club and in recent years they have been awarded the most successful collections in England, which we are very proud of.
"We do this instead of a harvest festival and the children really enjoy it because they know they are helping others who are less fortunate than them and they get to have fun in the process of putting the boxes together."
