HYNDBURN MP Greg Pope will visit a Rossendale community centre on Friday, to honour supporters and take part in an official naming ceremony.
Mr Pope will be among several guests at the Haslingden Community Link, Bury Road, at 12.45pm. He will unveil a number of room plaques which acknowledge the support given to the centre from local businesses, the community and other groups who use the centre.
Guests will also be given a tour of the facilities.
Based in a once-derelict school, the community centre is a hive of activity -- attracting more than 100 visitors a day.
It is a company limited by guarantee, but its shareholders do not take any profits, so any money made is ploughed back into improving facilities.
Currently they include a computer suite, kitchen, caf, nursery school, rooms of various sizes and parking for 50 cars.
The caf is run by Jigsaw Pantry, who employ people with learning disabilities, while the main hall is used for dances, theatre productions, anniversaries and weddings and there is also a link up with Accrington and Rossendale College who offer a number of courses.
